Interior of Fountain County Courthouse in Covington
Historical County Murals
The courthouse in Covington, Indiana is blessed with historical murals painted by County residents that depict the history of the county from its inception through the second world war.
These murals have been restored and are a tribute to the history of the county and the hardy folks who settled it. Due to the plaster used to construct the walls and other structural conditions the murals are constantly having to be maintained. The pictures below were taken form the best angles possible but due to the gallery construction it is very difficult to get a good angle so, we invite you to visit for yourself so you can see the beauty and intricacies of these murals so lovingly created by the artists of Fountain County.
Eugene Savage Paintings
Covington is the hometown for famous artist Eugene Savage. He painted two large paintings which now hang just inside the front entry doors of the courthouse. These two paintings depict political themes about greed and taxes. They are quite dramatic and we invite you to visit our courthouse and enjoy these paintings by one of America's premier artists.
